Not every enemy can be stolen from.
Some enemies in Mugen Souls Z can be protected by a specific type of theft.
Normal items are stolen by using "regular" skills that can steal such as "Reflection Ball", "Chicken Run Trap" etc.
Rare items are stolen by using "Specials" such as "Ultra Twin Blade Slash", "Alys Forever", "Ultimate Strike", etc.
This can make hunting components from bosses, and rare enemies very difficult because a good amount of them have item theft protection. If an enemy is resistant against normal item theft, then it's possible to steal their item by using a "Special Skill". If an enemy is resistant against rare item theft, then the item can be stolen by using a normal steal skill.
The only type of enemies that are resistant against Normal steal skills and Special steal skills would be the rare enemies. None of the items from the Contract Angels and Baby Bug type enemies cannot be stolen normally.
A conditional skill that allows items to be stolen is needed to steal from them. Nao's Conditional Skill, "Thief Plus", is useful for stealing normal items from enemies.
This section contains information specific to Mugen Souls Z.
Over 20% of enemy types found in the Mugen Field cannot have their normal item stolen due to having the Auto Guard Conditional Skills. If the enemy reaches a certain level, they will learn this conditional skill and resist item theft.
There are 11 enemy types, each containing 5 pallete swaps, that can't be stolen using regular stealing skills, so 55 enemies cannot have their normal item stolen without aid.
Birds in Eggshells (Piyo types)
Turtles (Crustacean looking things)
Giant Pixel Blocks (Battan-types)
Karate Cat cannot get their normal item stolen but the rest of its species can, so that makes 56 regular enemies that are normal item theft resistance in the Mugen Field.
Rare enemies such as the Contract Angels and Baby Bugs are also theft resistant to both regular and special skill stealing.
